I have been going to mags for years.Its a great place to have a good time in a nice place.The service is great and the bar area is up to date.The staff are nice and the regulars are very friendly.There have been comments made from some people that the attitude of management is a problem.......its not the job of management to entertain the patrons.......you pay for drinks and they get you the drinks.....its as simple as that......they deal with hundreds of people every year and not every situation is going to be perfect.The place is busy Fridays and Saturdays with people singing karaoke,and the wait staff changes occasionally but the service remains good.....If you feel like drinking more than you should,there are always cabs available for your ride home..........for a great night out try mags...........

2 meals were forgotten and had to call manager to get them. Came 30 minutes after other 3 people started eating, one came wrong even after all the waiting. Refills had to be asked for 2 times. Had to call over server several times. Appetizer showed up after dinner. Went to find manager to tell of all the problems and they took nothing off the bill, not even a drink. We will never go again and tell everybody. Second time had horrible service here but friends insisted on going and this time was far worse than the last time. Save your money and go to Baton Rouge or Milestones across the street.

Hello. Just thought I would share my experience with you. Went with my family and a friend for dinner on Sunday night (Feb 24, 2013) We ordered the wings as they were on special, $0.50 each wing, with a beverage purchase. The sauces were good, the hot was hot, the jerk had the right seasonings, the pineapple curry tasted more like a chutney and not very much pineapple flavour. The wings themselves tasted fine, crispy fried and served piping hot. Just a little small for my liking. I guess they were fine for the price, but if I had to pay the regular price of $11.00 for 1 pound I would have been very disappointed. The service was very good. The server was very attentive and check up on us frequently to make sure we were ok. Mind you there were probably only 3 or 4 tables at the time so it was slow to say the least. Maybe on a busy night the service would have been different. She did comp a small ice cream for our 5 year old and give him lots of mints to take home, so that was very nice her. I would go back for the wings again, but I would probably have to order an appetizer first or eat something before I went.

Hi everyone! This is a great spot with some nice character, not to stuffy and comfortable comes to mind. The lass names Rose behind the bar was our server & she did a great job explaining what lattice fries were.............they were awesome. It's our new local watering hole.

We tried most restaurants in the area (all Italian) and we decided to go tothenew pub. We are happy we did, fantastic menu with the stew being perfect and my wife loved the chicken & rib combo. Gloria asked about the sauce on the bar b que chicken and the owner came over to tell us about the whiskey sauce and it's made there! We will be back for sure........

We stopped by because we heard their patio had opened.... unfortunately it is not quiet oped yet, i was told in the next couple of weeks. We stayed and sat in a cute booth in the bar area for a few pints and some wings. I think the wings are the best i've had in toronto as well we tried a beer, bacon & cheddar dip which was awesome. I look forward to the patio and more pints. keep up the good work.

Before the new owners took over The Monarch Tavern, I had never been upstairs. In fact I only ever went to 12 Clinton Street to attend private functions at Lounge 88, the main floor room. After going upstairs to The Monarch Tavern for the first time, I knew I'd be seeing a lot of the place cause it just felt so warm and welcoming! I was right :) Upstairs is an old school Tavern with lots of eclectic style and charm. The bar staff are equally eclectic with their charm. The food is down right dee-lish! Comfort food at its finest. Overall it's a great spot to grab a casual bite with some friends or that special someone and there is usual some sort of sporting event playing on their 2 large flat screens. I have also been invited to a few of their semi-private events downstairs and it's always a great vibe and awesome party and the room is sexy, cool! The Monarch Tavern is a spot that feels like home. It definitely has that Cheers vibe happening.

I went back up those stairs after not being inside the old building for 2 years. I was stoked to see the place is still old school but with craft beer, awesome bourbon selections and damn tasty food. The bartender/server was friendly and the owners engaging. Great music was playing and the crowd very Toronto. I've been back twice since. It's south of College so not exactly on the strip but worth finding.

Have been coming here for years, mostly because of the friendly and attentive service, as well as the daily beer specials. It seems that there are no more drink specials after the renovation, and the menu items have increased in price, whilst maintaining the same mediocre microwaved-taste to them. I frequent the nearby Fox and Fiddle now for their half-price wings and variety of daily drink specials. All in all, the Goose and Firkin is an alright place, but prepare to be overcharged for mediocre food.

Best Curry and the Naan Bread is made fresh, it melts in your mouth!!!! The curry smell once you enter this pub is amazing so gulping a few pints before a curry is easily done! and they have like 20 beers on tap to chose from so Kieths and Curry it is for me!
